Sukie in black

posted by Babs on Wednesday, 1 October 2008

Funny but when MB takes a photo of me in black and white, I don’t look as black.

Do you want to know why?

MB says that if you want black to be very dense (dark) when you are using light to produce colour for print, you should make black by using all of the colours -  Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and black.  As I am a black cat I look better in colour.

I think I am lovely either way and don’t much care about all that mumbo jumbo!

That is a beautiful photo! We’re bookmarking it.
Light can indeed be challenging with black fur. Sometimes there is too much of a shine. But we think you lit this image perfectly :)

Sukie, you are indeed a magnificent, beautiful cat! I do find that stuff about “dark black” to be very interesting.

Hey, thanks for telling us about the incorrect link on our blog. Of course we don’t mind ’cause we want our list to be as accurate as possible.

That’s really interesting! My Mommie is already learning that it is very different to photograph Harley (who is black and white) than me!

I agree with you Sukie, you are lovely anyway :)

It is very hard to photograph any dark colors, My sister Mushka is brown and she is very hard to photograph too.

Mom works in the Graphic Arts Industry and sold and mixed inks for print shops, and of course sold lots of CMYK for 4 color printing for many years! The blackest PRINTED black always has to have extra blue in it!

Mom discovered our gray furs look completely different when she uses the flash. Therefore, she rarely uses flash. She almost always photographs us in natural light.

Did you realize that your CommentLuv is showing yesterday’s posts as everyone’s last post?

I don’t know why I wasn’t born as a black panda bear hamster, I would be nice to be black, why do I say it? Because everytime I see you I wonder why I wasn’t black :)

Such a lovely picture! I know about that black problem from print design but never thought on how it effects photos.

I like the detail of all your furs, Sukie. BTW, did you know that when you post a comment on my blog and I click your name on the comment, it takes me to your blogger profile and the link there, of course, takes me to your old blog? I just wondered whether you knew that and wanted to change who you comment as so that when we track back through we end up at your new site.

Sukie, now there’s no link at all for your name. I usually click on the link names of my comments so that I’m sure to comment back on all my visitors. I could just use the updated link in my blogroll (when I get around to updating it, which is hopefully tomorrow) but, I’ve a memory like a sieve and tend to forget.

BTW, what is the bloomin’ time over there right now? It’s 9:55pm here, and you’ve replied to the comment I made a bare hour ago!

Sukie — My name is Shadow. My mommie is Kathy of The Junk Drawer blog and she never seems to get a good picture of me because I’m all black. Whenever we look at the pictures together, all I can see of myself is a big black blob. I try to help her by opening my pretty eyes very biggy so that I at least have a face! Can you teach her how to take better pictures of me because I think everyone should enjoy me. I’m very enjoyable.

Shadow: I can try :O) She must make sure there is plenty of light shining on you. If it’s a dull day she can use a flash, but that only works if you quite close. The black will be a more yellow colour changes. It’s not too bad though.
